This
chess board is made of Macassar and
Maple. It has red and brown wide
striations accented by fine white lines
within the grain. It i finished
with a polyurethane matte finish that
protects the player from reflected
light. It is a beautiful board at an
affordable price and is available
in two sizes.
Macassar
is an ebony genus. The trees are
indigenous to the East Indies,
Indonesia and the Philippines. The
timber is rare and expensive; Macassar is
more commonly found in wood veneers
- like on this beautiful chess board.
The amber hue of the maple squares
are a perfect match for the boxwood
pieces.
